I am schizoprinic along with other nthings and sadly I too have hurt the people around me. People never know what state of mind Ill be in. But I try my hardest not to hurt these people and Im so ashamed afterward and I hate myself and end up hurting myself for me its a cycle I try to break the cycle. Im in behavial health to learn to deal with the bad part of me. I know there is a good part of your dad, and I know youve heard all the you need to be patient, show him love, understanding. Well yes thats all true but you dont need to accept his abuse. Stand up for yourself if the abuse crosses the line into physical abuse call the police, if you feel he will get to that point and you cant leave try to call the police. There has to be some consequecnes for his actions. Does he see a therapist?? If so let you may want to talk to him?? or have a family meeting. What about meds is he on them, does he take them as perscribed?? Well if you need extra support you can send me a message. Take care, Im pulling for you stay safe. Peej

My mother is schizophrenic. ( genetically I think it was passed to me) She has physically abused me ever since I was a child. Not to mention, verbally mentally, and emotionally. She has always been very paranoid, accused me of crazy thing I never did, and punished me for them. I had to move out when I was 15, after she beat me so bad. Ever since then I have been on my own. I think if you are strong enough, you can get out of your situation, its for the best. Im sure your dad loves you, but he is sick. You can not hold grudges, just try to move on, and not let it bring you down. Im sure youll get through it.

You guys are telling the story of my life, somewhat. Mom and dad aren't necessarily schizophrenic but they do drink. So they get temporarily psychotic!!!! I'm living in a state of borderline neglect with old old clothing, shoes that more or less work, and I'm on SSI but make a smidgen of income sufficient to barely pay rent to a friend I can live with the next month. Somebody tried to diagnose me schiozaffective. Before I could point out my toxic living environment I was out her door.
